It’s summer! I’ve been traveling and then sick with a summer cold (the worst), and I’ve been working on a Summer Bucket List of things that only happen during this season and I do not want to miss out on. I’ve been hearing from all my kid-friends and friends with kids about the Very Cool summer camps and programs that they get to do in this season - field trips and creek stomping and camping galore - and I am super envious of that kid-summer life. I am a full-blown adult, sure, but I do have more summer time and bandwidth than I’ve had in a long time, so I’ve got high hopes for getting to do ALL these things. And I would love to hear what your favorite, must-do summer activities are.
Family reunion in Parkersburg, Illinois. Sit on my patio and enjoy my backyard. Teach two grandnephews to sew, using finishing a cloth baby book for their new cousin as the project. Getting a bouquet of flowers from the flower farmer down the street every week. Hosting some Manassas friends before conference.
I’ll go to Dollywood with you! I’ve been meaning to go some time while I’m in Tennessee. It’s about three and a half hours from where I am, but we can plan a day. I may even bring some cool seminary friends
Glad to hear the Grandin’s still there! When I first moved to town in ‘88 and lived down the street from there, the big excitement was when they filmed a scene from a Dudley Moore movie there.
Dollywood is the best! My family lives about 45 minutes away (but I live 8 hours away now or I’d go with ya!). I highly recommend going in the fall with peak leaves and less people.
I did get to eat compote made from fresh picked tart cherries just last week. I made it myself so not over sugared. It was the perfect accompaniment for the cheesecake I'd made for my brother's and sister-in-law's 50th anniversary dinner.
I'm gonna be a volunteer cabin counselor at Camp Mack for culinary camp for a week with jr high kids. Yep, even at my age I still enjoy going to camp!
Dollywood 2025! ❤️
Go to a minor league baseball game (Dayton Dragons) where I’ll eat Dippin’ Dots out of a tiny plastic helmet.
Ride my bicycle regularly. My summer goal is to ride 1,000 miles or more. (Slow start this year, only 77 miles under my belt so far.)

Camping! And a trip to the east coast so the kids can experience a real summer and fireflies
